LarajoeKia ora, I'm Lara.
Joe calls me the "Smarts" of MOWMAHI.
He calls himself the "Sweat".
In reality, I think we both multitask, side-by-side with our team – who are also smart, and sweat.
You'll usually find me in the engine room, taking care of all the essential stuff. Admin, tax, GST, ACC, sitting on the phone forever talking to IRD, Xero, emails, meetings with our accountant, client relationships, mahi management, hiring, contracts, arguing with Joe, laughing with Joe, scopes and quotes, wages, receipts (which seem to go on forever).
Yep. All the fun stuff!
Joe, on the other hand, gets his hands dirty.
He's on the ground, on site and in the trenches with our crew. He tells everyone he works in the rain and mud, but I know that's not true.
He's hiding in the truck. He hates working in the rain.
Joe takes a hands-on approach to the mahi.
He's serious about health and safety, looking after our crew, our tenants and the communities we mahi in.
He leads by example and has an intense focus on getting the job done efficiently, on time
and to a high standard. He pays attention
to the little things. The details matter to him.
His words are "Mahi with Quality – at Pace."
He also has a serious case of Type A.
At times, he drives me nuts. I've tried to sack
him a few times.
But he keeps on turning up.
And that's MOWMAHI, really.
We're Larajoe. We're different, we challenge each other, we laugh, we argue, we work hard and we keep showing up.
Alongside our crew, we're building something we're proud of.
